Bridal Lingerie

What to Wear Underneath it All

Traditional bridal lingerie comes in three colors - white, ivory or cream - if the bride is wearing a white wedding dress. Bridal consultants suggest that wedding lingerie should be similar in color to the bride's wedding dress just in case the brassier decides to make an appearance. However, modern brides are starting to wear bolder colors on their wedding day. For example, if your wedding gown is crimson red, so should your bridal lingerie be crimson red. Just be sure to try on your bridal lingerie with your bridal gown to ensure it looks right and provides full coverage. And remember - choose comfortable bridal lingerie if you're wearing it for the entire day. You can always slip into something a little sexier on your wedding night!

Just follow our helpful bridal lingerie guide:

Strapless, off-the-shoulder and bridal gowns with spaghetti straps - opt for a supportive strapless bra with a slight push-up effect, strong under wire and firm elastic under the chest to prevent slippage.

Halter-style or low backed gowns - Choose a boned corset with stiff cups and a low back, for proper chest support.

Sheath gowns - Choose a smooth fitting Lycra or spandex bra and panty set with invisible seams and stay up stockings for invisibility under this body-hugging silhouette.

Plunging v-necks - will require an adhesive bra.

A-line bridal gowns - try a control top bodysuit (bra and underwear in one) which will slim your waist, tummy and butt under this streamlined dress.

Full-skirts - Brides with ballerina-style skirts can wear any type of stockings they desire, but stay-up stockings with wide elastic bands or stockings with garter belts will allow for easy bathroom access under an already full and cumbersome skirt.

After the newly wed couple retires to their honeymoon suite, the bride will want to wow her new husband with some of these sexy bridal lingerie items:

Bustier - A form-fitting top (similar to a tank top with boning) with removable garters. A full bustier is all-in-one, with a g-string, thong or panty attached.

Corset - Push the breasts upward and synch the waist to give bodies an hour glass appearance. Corsets are restrictive undergarments with tight boning; they have eyelet closures in the front and lace up at the back. Some have garter belts attached.

Baby dolls - form cups around the breasts and loose material drapes from under breasts to mid-torso. This cute, little-girl look is perfect for brides who are self-conscious about their stomach, waist and thighs.
