The Wedding Party
Your Wedding Support System
The wedding party consists of the bride and groom's closest friends and family. This group consists of the maid of honor, best man, bridesmaids, groomsmen and optionally a ring bearer and flower girl.
The maid of honor is usually the bride's sister or a close relative or friend. For some brides choosing their maid of honor is a simple decision - they've known all their life who they've wanted for that special role. For others, the decision is more difficult - of all the wonderful women in their life who alone should receive the honor? Sometimes something as simple as who can better manage the maid of honor duties is the tie-breaker.
The bridesmaids make up the rest of the bridal party. In addition to their own bridesmaid duties their job is to offer support to the bride and the maid of honor.
As for the groom he also has personal attendants - the best man and groomsmen. The best man is the groom's right-hand man. His duties range from organizing the wedding day transportation and witnessing the marriage license to giving the best man's speech.
On the day of the wedding it's hard to miss the wedding party - they look incredible in their bridesmaid dresses and tuxedos! Add a young nephew in his ring bearer attire and a young cousin in her flower girl dress and the wedding party is sure to dazzle all the guests.
There is a lot of work expected of the wedding party to ensure the wedding is a success. However, once the wedding vows have been exchanged and the speeches have been given the joy on the faces of the bride and groom make it all worthwhile.
