Like the bride, the groom's responsibilities are important in planning and hosting the wedding as smoothly as possible. While some men like to leave all the details to their fiance, grooms should remember that the wedding is as much about them as the bride. Do more than just show up at the ceremony; be involved in the planning process. This is your "big day" too, make your opinions heard. Plus your fiance will appreciate your help.
- With the bride choose the wedding style, date and site
- With the bride and both of your families (if they are helping to pay) determine budget, including size and cost of wedding
- With the bride choose ceremony officiant and discuss ceremony style
- Choose the best man and groomsmen
- Choose groomsmen tuxedos
- Choose ring bearer's attire
- With the bride choose invitations
- Plan rehearsal dinner with parents
- Get wedding license
- Manage the paperwork and contracts for wedding services (DJ, catering, liquor, etc.)
- Plan and book honeymoon with bride
- Buy the bride's wedding ring
- Buy the bride's gift
- Stand in receiving line at reception
- Give a speech and toast during the dinner
- Choose music for the first dance
- Help write and send out thank-you cards
