Groomsmen Duties
The groomsmen, or ushers as they're often called, are a group of the groom's closest friends and family. Throughout the entire wedding planning process, and during the big day itself, the groomsmen have one major responsibility - provide the groom with moral support. Whether it's lending a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on the groomsmen should do everything possible to ensure the wedding is a big success.
Wedding Planning Duties:
- Get measured and rent tuxedo
- Attend the "stag and doe" party and the bachelor party
- Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
- Help the best man
- Buy the couple a wedding gift
Wedding Day Duties:
- Help decorate the reception site
- Get to the ceremony on time (about an hour early)
- Greet and seat guests at the wedding ceremony
- Escort the bride's mother to her seat at the ceremony
- Escort the groom's mother to her seat at the ceremony
- Roll out a red or white carpet down the aisle for the processional
- Participate in the wedding photos
- Stand in the receiving line
- Help guests find their table for the dinner
- Dance the first dance with a bridesmaid
- Mingle with guests and ensure everyone is having a good time
- Help load wedding gifts into the car for delivery the bride's or groom's parents' house
- Do anything the groom may require
- Return your tuxedo to the formal wear rental store the day after the wedding
